The Twins were created as a counterpart to the Sirens, in a way. They're a split-code training program, designed for programs who wanted to train with something a little more complex than a target practice simulation but didn't want to drag their friends along with them.

They were designed to adapt and automatically correct their skill level to that of their opponent's. For more skilled adversaries they were quite formidable, for beginners they were very nearly playful. They were named Dex and Sin. Dexter and Sinister, the right and the left. It was what they'd always been, and what they always were, right up to the end.

They never strayed too far from each other, where one was, the other wasn't far off, mostly this was due to the fact that they were always fully aware of where the other one was and that duality of sensation could be a distraction if they were seeing two vastly different things.

During Clu's reign they were some of the first casualties to the games for just this reason, it hadn't taken Clu long to realize that separating the pair was the only way for someone to beat them. The feeling of being in two different Disc Wars matches was enough of a distraction that they weren't much of a challenge, less than some security programs, really.

Since the reintegration, however, they've been brought back and just as good as new, and they're back to doing what they do best now that the games are safe for everyone again.
